Winchester Sky

Our trip to Winchester, VA and WV last weekend. Beautiful skies after a huge storm that ripped and twisted trees into houses and streets. Smashed cars and roofs. Now everything is green, the sky is blue, and the air refreshed.

Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic

Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic is on view at the VMFA from June 11, 2016 – Sept 5, 2016.

This is truly an amazing show. Probably the best traveling show since the Picasso exhibit which opened the newly renovated museum. The scale, humor and emotion of these strangely juxtapositioned works of art are breathtaking.

Wiley was born in Los Angeles in 1977 and now works out of New York City.

Please take the time to go to this show, you will not be disappointed.

New Artist in RVA: Grace Eunmi Lee

While taking the RVA Clay Studio Tour this past Sunday we ran into Grace Eunmi Lee, a ceramic artist who recently moved to RVA from Toronto. Lee is from South Korea and has spent the last 6 years in Toronto and now RVA is lucky to have her here. Lee’s studio is upstairs at Shockoe Bottom Clay studio and gallery which is at 1714 E. Main Street.

While at Shockoe Bottom Clay we also visited one of our favorites, Butternet Press. Our first stop was of course Woodland Heights Studio to see Carren and Nga.

June is Summer

Summer is the time for vacations. We have already taken ours. A week on an island on the outer banks of North Carolina. We have been before and we will go again. Now we must be satisfied with the memories which these photos help conjure.
