National Geographic photographer Nathan Benn’s beautiful Kodachrome photos are on display at the Joel and Lila Harnett Museum of Art at the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA. The show, Kodachrome Memory American Pictures 1972-1990, is in it’s last week and closes April 3rd. Benn also has a book of photographs from the show available on Amazon.
While at the art gallery also check out the other two shows. Bernard Perlin, An Anthology of Drawings, 1934-1994. Perlin was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, Va who went on to paint and draw showing his work in many publications and galleries throughout the US.
The last show on view through April 25th is the student curated The French Horse From Gericault to Picasso, Works from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Though not a big horse art fan, the show is varied and displays beautiful, paints, sculptures, drawings of horses from the VMFA collection. Picasso, Degas and Magritte are some of the artists represented.
One of Richmond’s hidden treasures, the Joel and Lila Harnett Museum of Art at UR. The hours are Sunday through Friday 1 to 5pm. Closed Saturdays.
