Ebenezer Baptist Church

On a recent family trip to Atlanta we stopped by Ebenezer Baptist Church where Martin Luther King, Jr. was co-pastor with his father from 1960  to 1968 when King was assassinated in Memphis, Texas. Sitting in the pews of the church were Martin Luther King, Jr. preached, listening to his recorded words coming from the pulpit was very emotional, I felt honored. It was a humbling and awe inspiring experience that I was totally not expecting. We were headed to visit the KIng Center and I had no idea that the church where King was pastor was there and open to the public.

When we saw the church, that was where we went first.

Here are some more photos from our visit on February 21, 2015.

Our friend Ted Salins wrote a moving piece when he visited Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1999 which you can read here.

The Ebenezer Baptist Church is at Auburn Avenue and Jackson Streets in Atlanta, GA.
