Huguenot Bridge

Here is the Huguenot Bridge during its original construction on October 3, 1949 from the VDOT flicker site.

This past Sunday VDOT allowed neighbors and anyone who was interested to walk on the bridge for one last goodbye. People got a close up look at the patches and rusting rails of the aging bridge.

The first span of the new bridge, just west of the old one, opened on Saturday the day after we were hit with the derecho here in Richmond.

Here are some more photos from VDOT and the Richmond Times Dispatch by Mark Gormus from July 1 2012.

And some more  photos of construction of the new Huguenot Bridge during construction taken by yours truly.
