Winter Solstice

Usually the first day of winter is December 21st. This year it is today, the 22nd. I anxiously await the first day of winter every year because from here on out, the shortest day of the year, the sun sets just a little later each day and spring cannot be far behind.

The photo above was taken during this same week in 2010. For more information on the Solstice go to the Old Farmer’s Almanac or celebrate the solstice later today on Belle Island.
