A Little Bit Of ‘Grace Place’

Michael King former owner and operator of Grace Place Restaurant has a new vegetarian venue. Good Foods Grocery, a local natural foods store with two locations, one in the Southside and one on Gaskins, now has the Good Foods Cafe’ at the Gaskins location, run by King.

Grace Place which was open from the 70s into the 90s, I believe was the first and certainly a very influential vegetarian restaurant in Richmond, VA. The restaurant was on the second floor above the Natural Food Store at 826 West Grace Street, on the same block as the Biograph Theatre. The building is now a parking lot awaiting VCU development.

The Good Foods Cafe’ is located inside Good Foods Grocery at 1312 Gaskins Road. Stop by and tell Michael we said to say hello.

    Thanks for the info!
    Used to love Grace Place.
Have to check out Good Foods to see if they have that killer house dressing Grace Place served.

  2. Grace Place was a real refuge for many people in Richmond and where many were introduced to vegetarian and good old healthy cooking!

  3. Michael has now opened a bakery, lunch spot at the Good Foods Grocery here on Southside. Stop by!

He even has some gluten free baked goods!
