Cowboys and Aliens and Apes, oh my!

“Cowboys & Aliens” with Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde (photo above) is my kind of movie. It reminded me a bit of “Mighty Joe Young”(1949) when all of the cowboys were riding around Joe and trying to lasso him. Maybe that is where the cowboys and aliens and apes fascination started.

I arrived at “Mighty Joe Young” via “King Kong” (1933) which brought us to “Planet of the Apes” (1968) based on the novel by the French author Pierre Boulle (1912-1994) which has spawned the new prequel, “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” which opened Friday and I can’t wait to see it.

Oh! and by the way, not as good as “Super 8” but “Cowboys & Aliens” was still pretty good.

Cowboys, Aliens, and Apes, maybe next time they can all be combined in one movie….or maybe I will have to write it!
