It Was Thirty Years Ago Today….

We were just finishing up Rebby’s  birthday celebration at the Lotus Restaurant on North Boulevard when the waiter came over and said we had a phone call.

Rebby Sharp - 2307 West Grace Street, Richmond, VA - late 70s.

On the phone was one of our party who had left only a few minutes ago to go home. Upon getting home he heard on the radio that John Lennon had been shot.

Lennon had been shot outside his apartment at the Dakota in New York City by a deranged fan. He was dead at 40 years of age. The dream was over.

Needless to say the celebratory mood changed that evening, but December 8th is still Rebby’s birthday.

Happy Birthday, Rebby! and we hope that all of your birthday wishes come true!
