The Flesh And The Spirit
Virginia artist Sally Mann will have a new exhibit titled “The Flesh and the Spirit” opening Saturday at the VMFA. Mann known for her large format wet plate photographs of her family and landscapes is one of my favorites.
I saw her large landscapes at the Reynolds Gallery many years ago and loved them. In conjunction with the VMFA exhibit, Reynolds Gallery will once again be showing more of Mann’s work in an exhibit titled, “Afterlight” with an opening reception, November 13th from 6-8 pm.
The “Flesh and the Spirit” runs from November 13, 2010 to January 23, 2011.
There will be a film on Friday and a chance to hear Mann talk about her work on Saturday:
Film: What Remains: The Life and Work of Sally Mann (Fri, Nov 12, 6:30 – 9 pm)
Talk: Sally Mann: Conversations (Sat, Nov 13, 10 am – 1 pm)

Sally Mann is a very interesting artist although I don’t always like her results.

More leftist pablum from immoral, socialist so called “artists”. What does this stuff mean? Norman Rockwell – now there’s a great artist. he actually paints and draws “things”.
